Ozempic® (semaglutide) is a weekly injection used as part of a medical weight loss treatment program. The active ingredient, semaglutide, is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that reduces appetite, slows gastric emptying, and thus helps regulate energy intake. Patients often experience a decrease in hunger and increased satiety after meals.

Although Ozempic was originally registered for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, it is sometimes used off-label in people who are overweight or obese, under medical supervision. This use is based on scientific studies in which semaglutide demonstrated a significant contribution to weight loss.

A course of treatment with Ozempic takes place under the supervision of a doctor and is always accompanied by lifestyle advice and regular check-ups.

Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) is a weekly injection that can be used under medical supervision as part of a treatment plan for overweight or obesity. The active ingredient stimulates both the GIP and GLP-1 receptors, thus helping to reduce appetite, delay gastric emptying, and reduce body weight.

Although Mounjaro is officially approved for the treatment of type 2 diabetes, it is used off-label in people without diabetes due to its proven effects on weight loss. Research also shows that tirzepatide contributes more significantly to improved metabolic health, including beneficial effects on insulin resistance, blood pressure, and cholesterol levels.

The treatment is always combined with lifestyle advice and takes place under the supervision of a doctor.
